Taronga Zoo

We made our obligatory visit to Hyde Park this morning, and then went shopping, again. I've shopped more in the last 3 days than I have in Shanghai in the last 4 months. This time, the shopping spree was just for me. After a long afternoon nap for the both of us, we went to Taronga Zoo.

Getting to the zoo is 1/2 the fun because you have to take a ferry over and then take a cable car to the entrance of the zoo. Unfortunately, the cable car was under repair so we had to take the bus. I was disappointed because everyone gushes about the view of Sydney from the cable car. Luckily, you have a very good view of the city from the zoo too. This is the first zoo that Sydney's been to and we may need to make another visit before we leave on Thursday. She had a great time checking out and talking to the animals. I can hardly wait until she's old enough to take on a safari in South Africa. There was a bit of dancing too because there was music in the food court at the zoo. Sydney impusively dances whenever she hears music -- at school, at home, at the grocery store, at a restaurant, at Darling Harbour, at Circular Quay. We missed her late afternoon nap while we were at the zoo but she was too excited about the animals to have a melt down. I, on the other hand, didn't fare as well without my late afternoon nap. We spent 2 hours at the zoo --- 1.5 hours checking out the animals and 30 minutes trying to find the exit. We only saw about 1/2 of the animals but I was tired of the crowd and was starting to get hungry. Sydney left the zoo with a new friend to add to her animal collection.
